Frugally entertaining children in the car

I don't know about you, but both my boys can get board on journeys in the car and there are times that I curse the fact I taught them how to play i spy!

So instead of verbal eye spy, I created a sheet that I printed off and laminated and then give them whiteboard pens to mark off the items.  The competition is to see who can fill in parts first.

If you click on the image below, you can enlarge it to print off yourself.

Some of our other favorite in-car or travelling games are:
  • I don’t spy (just like I spy, but the opposite)
  • Who am I? Where you have to guess what job the person does without them using the title. ie I help people, I work in a hospital (Doctor)
  • Count the cars, ie find 48 white cars
  • I spy using a colour
  • I went to the shops and I bought…..

This is an entry in to the Tots100 Jolly Journeys competition in conjunction with Travel Supermarket.  Take a look at their UK car hire, as this is where they will be displaying some of the best tips they receive.

  3. I love this idea! Kids also really enjoy bingo so how about printing the cards with the items in different places and then challenging them to get the first row, column and diagonal? I am totally going to do this when BabyBee is a LOT bigger!

Bissell Vac and Steam Machine Review and Giveaway

I have hard floors downstairs which I love.  They are much more practical than carpet with 2 mucky boys and a dog. Over the past 8 years I have tried all sorts of ways to keep them clean and I think I have finally found the product that does that for me. It is the  Bissell Vac and Steam Machine .  This amazing suel action machine vacuums and steam cleans either independently or at the same time.  It means that I have done away with my vacuum and steam cleaner downstairs (which I gave to my brother in law). What I like: You can either vacuum or steam clean or do both It is lightweight and easy to manoeuvre The handle is adjustable great for a home with people of different heights and for getting the kids involved. You need no chemicals The pads are washable and reusable It comes with a two year guarantee It warms up fast (within 30 seconds) so no long wait to start cleaning It costs under £100 It is space saving.  No need for a separate vacuum, steam cleaner or mop.
